Spirituality
Spirituality at St. Aidan's takes many forms, and we hope that the Church might be for you a place that nourishes and strengthens you on your spiritual journey. Lately, we have found ourselves called to listen more deeply to each other as we work to discern where God is calling us as a parish. Several parishioners have received discernment training from the Diocese of Virginia and have brought it back to St. Aidan's, training the vestry and rippling out to several small groups in the parish. Also, our rector, John Baker, has just embarked on the 18-month program "Clergy Spiritual Life and Leadership" program at the Shalem Institute in Washington, D.C. We look forward to walking along this new path with him.
We offer many opportunities to the parish and community for those seeking to deepen their spirituality. We have a beautiful labyrinth painted onto our floor at St. Aidan's that we frequently open for contemplative walking. We have a day-long Lenten retreat with meditations and silence.
We have a group that meets in the Church on the first and third Tuesdays of each month at 7:15 p.m. for silent prayer and spiritual sharing and listening.
The Church is also open every Tuesay and Thursday morning at 8 a.m. for an hour for silent prayer.
