John M. Baker, Rector
John Baker has been rector of St. Aidan’s since August of 1999. He came here from Grace-St. Luke’s Church in Memphis, which was his home before moving to Alexandria. He received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Memphis and his master’s degree in divinity from Virginia Theological Seminary. His passion for ministry was shaped at St. Mark’s, Capital Hill, where he worked during seminary. There he became interested in finding ways to help modern, often skeptical people find meaning for their lives in the traditions and practices of Christianity. His wife, Mary, is a teacher, and they have a grown daughter Margie, who lives in North Carolina and is a teacher as well.
