Creative and relevant Christian education is a high priority for us at St. Aidan's!
Sunday School During the School Year
During the school year, we offer Sunday morning classes for all ages between our two morning worship services, beginning at 9:30 a.m.
Preschool through 4th Grade
Kids in pre-school through 4th Grade meet first as a group for prayer, songs, poetry, and an interactive telling of the Gospel story for the day. After a healthy snack, the kids break up into groups by age to work creatively with the story. All this takes place in a wonderful, family atmosphere led by loving and dedicated teachers, under the creative guidance of Barbara Bradley.
Middle School Sunday School
The new middle school class for fifth through eighth graders meets in the youth room for snacks, interesting discussions, religious instruction and fun under the enthusiastic leadership of Tobin Bergin-HIll and Manley Williams.
Adults
Each week, adults meet in White Hall and enjoy Sunday morning forums which relate our Christian faith and history to our lives. Join us for lively discussions, informative and interesting subject matter, and a chance to make new friends.
Advent Program
Handel’s Messiah and the Bible
Adult Forum for four Sundays
Handel’s Messiah has wonderful music and singing, yes, but do you know the story behind this oratorio? The story behind the words? The big ideas it expresses? Come to the adult forums on the Sundays in Advent. We’ll listen to favorite short pieces (three to four minutes). You’ll have the words in front of you so you can read along – or sing along, I suppose. Then I’ll explain where the words come from (in the Bible), and how they fit the story and music of Handel’s masterpiece, Messiah. Just show up at 9:30 a.m. for any or all of our 50-minute sessions on Sundays, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 12/21. – The Rev’d Jonathan Bryan (703-765-3583 or jonathanbryan@cox.net)
Youth Groups
St. Aidan's offers Sunday afternoon youth groups for both middle school and high school teens.
Middle School EYC
About once a month, the St. Aidan's middle school youth group will meet for fellowship and fun. Later this month, the group will go to a movie together in the afternoon.
High School EYC
Twice a month (generally the first and third Sundays of the month), the St. Aidan's high school youth group will meet for fun activities and various outreach projects. (This summer, this group formed the core of St. Aidan's mission trip to the Gulf Coast.) Once again, this group is led by the clergy in conjunction with Ed and Brenda Foos.
Nursery
A nursery is available from 9:30 a.m. until noon for children too young to attend Sunday School. The nursery caregivers, Pat Tabernilla and Sandra Cruz, both work with children in schools during the week. The nursery is located in the "Muscle Room" in White Hall.
